Oil change

Facial oils continue to give moisturisers a run for their money, and for good reason, writes Emma-Charlotte Bangay.
Oils are unsurpassed when it comes to delivering moisture, antioxidants and vitamins to the skin. Like a beauty bullet train, goodness is delivered in milliseconds, and results are immediate.
What is Facial Oil?
Facial oils are water free, which some beauty experts argue makes for much better absorption. Add to this an array of pure plant oils, antioxidants, minerals, fatty acids and other nutrients, and you are setting your skin up for one super hit of hydration.
Oils penetrate deeply into the skin, leaving skin feeling more supple, radiant and softer.
How do they work?
Ageing skin be warned, facial oils have you in their sights. Anti-ageing facial oils are a wonderful way to fast-track treatment of lines, support ailing collagen, deter free-radicals and regenerate skin cells.
When can I use Facial Oil?
Facial oils are best used in the morning on clean skin. If you have the time, allow at least 5 minutes for it to really sink into the complexion prior to applying makeup. Try applying oil, brushing your teeth or doing your hair, and then apply makeup to avoid wasting time.
Oils can also be used in the evening, just ensure you allow enough time between application and shuteye to prevent your pillow wearing more product than you.
How do I use Facial Oil?
A little goes a long way, so apply only 2-3 drops to the fingertips and work into the face. Following absorption, blot any excess off with an open tissue.
Use any residue on said tissue for the back of hands or décolletage.
How do I prolong the life of my Facial Oil?
You will notice some oil bottles are dark. This is to preserve the product and prevent oxidization through light, which can break it down and contaminate the liquid.
Be vigilant with closing lids securely and store in a beauty cabinet or drawer. Alternatively, choose a capsule option so that you are using and discarding daily. No room for error!
